VARE Birthday Calendar Exporter

This section describes the privacy practices that apply specifically to the VARE Birthday Calendar Exporter Chrome extension (“the Extension”).

Purpose of the Extension

The Extension helps a signed-in Facebook user collect birthday information already available through their Facebook account, review and organize that information, and export selected birthdays as recurring calendar reminders or a CSV spreadsheet.

The Extension only accesses Facebook birthday information after the user intentionally selects the “Import My Facebook Birthdays” button.

Information the Extension Processes

Depending on what information is available through the user’s Facebook account, the Extension may process:

• Facebook display names

• Birthday months and days

• Birth years, when available

• Facebook profile identifiers or profile links

• Contact tags, selections, and edits entered by the user

• Calendar-reminder preferences

• Locally saved extension settings

The Extension does not request or collect the user’s Facebook password.

When the user initiates an import, the Extension uses the user’s existing signed-in Facebook session. It may temporarily process a Facebook security token that is present within the Facebook page and required to complete a same-origin request to Facebook. This token is used temporarily in memory, is not included in exported files, and is not stored or transmitted to VARE or another third party.

How Information Is Used

Birthday information is used only to provide the Extension’s user-facing features, including:

• Displaying an editable birthday list

• Allowing the user to include or exclude individual contacts

• Allowing the user to add or change contact tags

• Creating annual birthday calendar events

• Creating advance birthday reminders

• Creating CSV spreadsheet exports

• Displaying the number of saved birthdays occurring today

• Creating an optional calendar-removal file

VARE does not use this information for advertising, marketing profiles, credit decisions, lending decisions, or any purpose unrelated to the Extension’s stated functionality.

Local Storage and Retention

The Extension stores imported birthdays, user edits, tags, selections, and reminder preferences locally using Google Chrome’s extension storage on the user’s device.

VARE does not receive or maintain a server-side copy of this information.

The information remains in local extension storage until the user:

• Selects “Clear saved birthdays” within the Extension;

• Manually removes individual records; or

• Uninstalls the Extension from Chrome.

Files previously downloaded by the user are stored outside the Extension and must be managed or deleted by the user.

Downloads and Calendar Services

The Extension creates an ICS calendar file or CSV spreadsheet only after the user selects the corresponding download button.

If the user imports a downloaded file into Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple Calendar, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or another service, that service will process the imported information according to its own privacy policy and user agreement.

The Extension does not automatically transmit birthday information to those services.

Data Sharing and Sale

VARE does not sell, rent, license, trade, or share birthday information, profile links, contact tags, reminder preferences, or other information processed by the Extension.

The Extension does not transmit this information to VARE, advertising networks, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties.

The Extension communicates with Facebook only as necessary to retrieve the birthday information requested by the signed-in user.

Chrome Permissions

The Extension uses the following Chrome permissions:

• Alarms: Performs a periodic local check of saved birthday dates so the extension icon can display the number of birthdays occurring today.

• Downloads: Saves an ICS calendar file, CSV spreadsheet, or calendar-removal file after the user requests the download.

• Host permissions: Provides access only to facebook.com and web.facebook.com so the Extension can retrieve birthday information available through the user’s signed-in account.

• Scripting: Runs the Extension’s packaged birthday-import function within the selected Facebook tab after the user starts an import.

• Storage: Saves birthday records, contact selections, tags, edits, and reminder preferences locally in Chrome.

• Tabs: Locates, opens, or returns to the appropriate Facebook Birthdays tab and targets the correct tab for a user-requested import.

The Extension does not use the tabs permission to collect or maintain a history of websites the user visits.

Remote Code

The Extension does not download or execute remotely hosted JavaScript, WebAssembly, or other executable code. All executable code used by the Extension is included within the installed extension package.

Information returned by Facebook is treated as data and is not executed as code.

User Control and Deletion

Users may review, edit, include, exclude, or remove birthday records before exporting them.

To remove all information stored by the Extension, users may select “Clear saved birthdays” within the Extension or uninstall the Extension from Chrome.

Because VARE does not receive or maintain a copy of locally stored birthday information, VARE cannot access, correct, export, or delete that information on the user’s behalf.

Limited Use Compliance

The Extension’s use of information is limited to providing and improving its disclosed birthday-import and export functionality.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information processed by the Extension will not be transferred or used for personalized advertising, sold to third parties, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Children’s Privacy

The Extension is intended for business and professional users and is not directed to children under 13. VARE does not knowingly collect information from children through the Extension.

Third-Party Services

The Extension depends on information made available through Facebook. Facebook may change the availability, structure, or accuracy of its birthday information. Users should review imported information before exporting or relying on it.
